Landing began on Tuesday, October 18, 2012. The pruners arrived early to inaugurate the launch of the worksite, the first stage of which is the felling of three pine trees. We almost shed a tear for the large pine at the entrance to the old swimming pool, but the smile soon returns when we think of the beautiful new feature that awaits you!
We invite you to take a step-by-step look at the construction of this brand-new aquatic area: After a few shovelfuls, it’s hard to recognize the pool! Minutes go by, and it’s nothing more than a pile of rubble.

Demolition is all well and good, but then you have to clear it away, and frankly, two people can do it much faster!

The land is now ready to make way for something new, but first we have to install the wells that will channel the groundwater beneath the pool.

The last major stage of these first two weeks was the demolition of the pool sanitary block. If you’re wondering, no, no, it’s not an optical effect, the stump of the tall pine is almost as high as the sanitary block!

Once the toilet block has been demolished, the space is clear. The earthmoving team takes over!

The earthwork is used to define the shape of the pool and its depth. In the front of the photo below, you can already see the shape of the future swimming pool, which will be 1.60m deep. In the background, the shape of the landing area for the three slides is taking shape.

Below is the reception area for the toboggans!

Change of team! The site is now in the hands of the pool designers! Below is the structure that will house the canisses that will eventually be used to project the concrete and create the pool’s contours.

At the end of the day, the sun sets over the construction site!

The team of masons is currently building the new toilet block. The foundations are almost complete!

It’s early December, and it’s getting cold, so with a little imagination we’re going to make you dream of your next vacation, lazing by the pool! In front of you is the lagoon section (which will gradually descend to a depth of 1.30 m) and the rounded grey area is the spa area!

Looking forward to next summer, when you’ll be able to relax in the whirlpool jets, and see you soon for the rest of the project! 2013!! The year is off to a great start at Les Rochelets! The shapes of the pool are now well defined. Concrete spraying, earthworks for the future pool deck. It took just two and a half days to pour the concrete, with a total of nine router trucks. Below you can see one of the router trucks and the balneo section.

The shotcrete technique is patented by pool specialist Diffazur, who is the only company to use it, and produces beautifully rounded shapes. You need to be strong, and that’s putting it mildly, as the projection power is between 8 and 12 bars. As you can see below, it looks simple, but we’ve sometimes wondered if it wasn’t the spear that held the man, and not the other way around!
With this technique, everything is shaped by hand directly during the concrete spraying process. Below, you’ll see that no structure was laid beforehand to create the steps.
The steps were sculpted directly into the freshly-sprayed concrete – quite an art!

Here’s a glimpse of the pool from the roof of the sanitary block, which you can see on your way to the slides!

In early February, some real artists arrived at Les Rochelets. We invite you to visit our facebook page to discover what they’re currently building. facebook is here: https://fr-fr.facebook.com/CampingLesRochelets So, do you have any ideas?
This week, the diggers are back on the job, smoothing out the ground so we can get started on an important stage: the pool deck! For the record, we’re halfway there in terms of time, with no delays on the horizon, so it smells like feet in the water! The Les Rochelets team ~ ~ To answer the question posed on our Facebook page, as you may have guessed from the following photo, rocks have taken shape at the edge of the pools in the aquatic area.

A lot of changes have taken place, as the worksite moves from strength to strength. On the agenda for the last fortnight: Installation of the barrier closing off access from the paddling pool to the other pools (photo below). Little ones will be able to splash around in complete safety, while parents look on from a bench next to the paddling pool.

The interior of the sanitary block is ready for the installation of tiles, shower cubicles and shoe storage lockers. We’ll be revealing the colors of the new washroom soon!
Below, the exterior of the sanitary block before plastering the façade. This door will open onto the pool entrance, providing access to the foot bath.
Another side of the sanitary block, overlooking the toboggan reception area. Next week, the 3 orange slides arrive!
Several major jobs took place at the same time this week (quick reference: week from March 11 to 15, 2013). Firstly, the rendering of the sanitary block facades, secondly, the terracing of the pool deck and thirdly, the patina of the rocks. Below, the masons in full plaster of the facades. The rendering is light grey, reminiscent of the exterior of the bar’s games room and the exterior of the kitchens. You’ll see with the orange slides very soon, a mix of modernity and pep guaranteed!

Finishing the front on the foot bath side.

Here’s a quick look at the site before we move on to the earthworks: below, the reception basin before the diggers return with their monstrous machines! The sculpted rocks are clearly visible.
Below, the swimming pool. Beware of the trompe l’oeil: from here, the pool looks small, but it alone is equivalent to the swimming surface of the old pool. You’ll also notice that the coping stones bordering the pools have been created, clearly defining the contours of the new pools.

Below is a first section of the earthwork carried out. Earthwork is an important step in levelling the beach surface. Once completed, the final beach surface can be laid.

Preparing the earthworks for the second part of the pool deck.

A shovel is used to dump the gravel needed for the earthworks. In other words, it made more than one round trip to transport all the gravel needed! The quantities are impressive!

Meanwhile, the rocks have changed color. The artists who sculpted them returned this week to apply the patina, giving them a much more realistic hue. Below, a rock with integrated waterfall before the patina.

Rock after patina. Here, the rocks don’t yet have their final colors. The patina has just been applied and will fade slightly. It will take a few days for the rocks to reveal their final appearance.

The same applies below to the coping around the anatomical benches before the patina.

Anatomically shaped benches with patina on coping.
Very soon we’ll be showing you an overview of the pool with the earthworks completed. Everything’s coming together: next fortnight: arrival and installation of the 3 slides, pouring of the concrete for the bar terrace, then the floor of the pool deck… Suffice it to say, it’s really starting to feel like swimming! Opening May 1, 2013!

Work is finished! We look forward to seeing you there! Here’s a taste of what’s in store if you come on vacation to Les Rochelets :

See you soon! The Les Rochelets team
