    Muscadet S\u00e8vre et Maine, a prestigious appellation<\/h2>\n\n

    Before we begin our journey, a few words about this wine. Produced mainly in Loire-Atlantique, Muscadet S\u00e8vre et Maine is a wine from the Val-de-Loire<\/strong> vineyards ,<\/strong> made from the Melon de Loire grape variety .<\/strong> Burgundy. A dry, fruity white wine, mineral and refreshing. <\/strong>It is an ideal accompaniment to seafood dishes and fish with beurre blanc.<\/p>\n\n

    Did you know that this AOC, created in 1936, is one of the oldest in France<\/strong>? It’s also the largest regional appellation in the Nantes vineyards in terms of surface area and production volume, with 425 winegrowers producing Muscadet. <\/p>\n\n

    The term “sur lie” refers to a winemaking process. The lees is the deposit formed during alcoholic fermentation. It consists mainly of yeast, bacteria and organic compounds. There are very precise criteria for labelling wines “sur lie”. <\/p>\n\n

    Le Voyage dans le Vignoble<\/h2>\n\n

    Between Nantes<\/a> and Clisson<\/strong>, the Voyage dans le Vignoble<\/a> is a 118 km wine tourism circuit. Created by the tourist organization “Le Voyage \u00e0 Nantes”<\/strong>, it takes budding oenologists and history and nature enthusiasts through a diversity of landscapes in the southern Loire: vineyards on the banks of the S\u00e8vre, the Goulaine marshes, the Tuscan city, medieval sites<\/strong>… <\/p>\n\n

    Some stages of the vineyard tour:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

    Start with a visit to Chauss\u00e9e des Moines<\/strong> in Vertou.<\/strong> Embark on the porte-vue<\/strong> at Ch\u00e2teau-Th\u00e9baud<\/strong> and taste Muscadet on your way out. Stop off at Ch\u00e2teau du Coing<\/strong> in Saint-Fiacre-sur-Maine. Visit the Mus\u00e9e du vignoble<\/strong> in La Haye-Fousssi\u00e8re, the Moulin \u00e0 Papier du Liveau<\/strong> in Gorges… Finish your tour in the narrow streets of “Italian Clisson”<\/strong>, passing through the Garenne-Lemot<\/strong> park in G\u00e9tign\u00e9. And don’t hesitate to push open the doors of the tourist cellars to meet the winegrowers, witnesses to these ancestral skills. <\/p>\n\n
