It welcomes almost <strong>200,000 visitors <\/strong>every year. You&#8217;ll discover <strong>18 thatched cottages restored<\/strong> in the traditional style of the Bri\u00e8re region, flowerbeds, an inn, a washhouse, a bread oven, craft stores and much more&#8230;  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The best things to do in Kerhinet<\/h2>\n\n<p>This typical Bri\u00e8re village, reserved for pedestrians and strollers, is open all year round. <strong>Visits<\/strong> are <strong>free of charge<\/strong>. A large parking lot is located at the entrance to the village. You can then walk along the long driveway that leads to the thatched cottages of Kerhinet. There&#8217;s so much to see, you could easily spend a day here.   <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Visit the Maison du Parc<\/strong>: the ideal starting point for exploring the village of Kerhinet. There&#8217;s a permanent exhibition on the village&#8217;s heritage: thatched cottages, wash-house, bread ovens&#8230; <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Explore the heritage discovery trail<\/strong>: this interpretive trail introduces visitors to the life of the former inhabitants of Kerhinet and the small heritage buildings (thatched cottages, wells, washhouse, two bread ovens, etc.).<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Lunch at the<a href=\"unsafe:tps:\/\/www.aubergedekerhinet.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Auberge de Kerhinet<\/a>: <\/strong> in a rustic setting, discover traditional Bri\u00e8re dishes such as cassoulet bri\u00e9ron, pigeon de Mesquer, frog legs and eel en persillade.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Picnicking<\/strong>: every Thursday in summer, you can picnic on site with dishes prepared by local producers. Picnic area with benches and shaded tables. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Shopping <\/strong>at La <a href=\"https:\/\/saveurs-et-artisanat.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chaumi\u00e8re des Saveurs et de l&#8217;Artisanat<\/a>: local artists, craftspeople and producers share a boutique in the heart of the village. Wooden creations, ceramics, artisan jewelry, savory groceries, basketry, clothing, natural cosmetics&#8230; <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The thatched-roof house, the Bri\u00e9ron spirit<\/h2>\n\n<p>The <strong>Bri\u00e8re Regional Nature Park <\/strong>is home to nearly <strong>3,000 thatched cottages <\/strong>spread throughout the region, representing around <strong>60% of thatched roofs in France<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n<p>Thatch is a traditional roofing material. In the past, these roofs were made of rye straw or rush. Today,<strong> reed roofs<\/strong> are the <strong>most common in Bri\u00e8re<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Did you know?<\/strong> Abandoned during the XIX\u1d49 century, the village of Kerhinet <strong>almost disappeared <\/strong>before being saved from oblivion by the Parc naturel r\u00e9gional de Bri\u00e8re, which undertook its <strong>complete restoration<\/strong> from 1973 onwards.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">At the Kerhinet market, fill your basket and your stomach<\/h2>\n\n<p>Every <strong>Thursday in summer<\/strong>, the village of Kerhinet hosts a <strong>farmers&#8217; market<\/strong>, a showcase for local agriculture. A veritable institution for over thirty years, it brings together regulars and tourists around the same table. All this in a rural setting and a musical atmosphere.  <\/p>\n\n<p>More than <strong>twenty local farmers<\/strong> handle everything from direct sales to on-site catering: <strong>bread<\/strong>, <strong>cheeses<\/strong>, <strong>honey<\/strong>, <strong>charcuterie<\/strong>, organic vegetables, meat, p\u00e2t\u00e9s, rillettes, <strong>marsh samphire<\/strong>, as well as artisanal products such as <strong>wool<\/strong>, essential oils, <strong>spirulina <\/strong>and <strong>saffron<\/strong>. And let&#8217;s not forget our craft beers and oysters from Mesquer, direct from the producer. <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Every Thursday in summer, July and August, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Don&#8217;t miss: bread baking in the village wood-fired oven. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Park events<\/h2>\n\n<p>Within the village, the Parc naturel r\u00e9gional de Bri\u00e8re offers a host of activities organized throughout the year as part of the Rendez-vous du Parc program.
