Allow 1 hour from Rennes, Cholet or La Roche-sur-Yon. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Opening dates and times<\/h2>\n\n<p>Plan\u00e8te Sauvage is open from February 8 to November 30. Opening times and dates vary according to the season. In July and August, the park welcomes visitors every day from 9.30 a.m. to 7 p.m.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Our advice:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Go when it&#8217;s not too hot, as<\/strong> the <strong>animals are more active<\/strong> and easier to observe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It&#8217;s best to <strong>visit during the week<\/strong>, and avoid busy Sundays.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to visit Plan\u00e8te Sauvage<\/h2>\n\n<p>There are several options for visiting the park:<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>On foot<\/strong>, you can wander around the park&#8217;s various theme zones on the <strong>well-developed<\/strong> footpaths.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Drive<\/strong> along the <strong>Safari Trail <\/strong>at your own pace. And for total immersion, board a <strong>bush truck<\/strong> with a guide for a 2-hour tour of the Safari Trail. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The zoo by car: the Safari trail<\/h2>\n\n<p>Plan\u00e8te Sauvage is famous for its <strong>10 km safari trail <\/strong>, which you can drive around in your own car. It&#8217;s <strong>the longest Safari Trail in France<\/strong>! <\/p>\n\n<p>If you follow the safety instructions, you and your vehicle are in no danger. However, <strong>windows must be kept closed<\/strong> and it is <strong>forbidden to get out of the vehicle<\/strong>. The speed limit is <strong>20 km\/h<\/strong>, and it is possible to do the Safari Trail with a camper van.  <\/p>\n\n<p>To avoid traffic jams, it&#8217;s best to <strong>start your visit early in the morning<\/strong>. Afternoons, however, offer better tiger-watching opportunities. Don&#8217;t forget to bring <strong>binoculars <\/strong>for the best viewing.  <\/p>\n\n<p>For safety reasons, open-top vehicles, convertibles, motorcycles or cars without a license are not allowed. In this case, we recommend that you reserve a place on the 4&#215;4 raid. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How long will it take to visit Plan\u00e8te Sauvage?<\/h2>\n\n<p>The park covers 85 hectares. To get the most out of your visit, <strong>allow around 6 hours for<\/strong> breaks and relaxation. <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Safari Trail alone takes around 2 hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dolphin presentation: 30 minutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Underwater gallery: 30 minutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chemin de Brousse and Temple de la Jungle: 45 minutes each<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Territoire des fauves and Sentier des Incas: 30 minutes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What animals to see at Plan\u00e8te Sauvage<\/h2>\n\n<p>The Port-Saint-P\u00e8re zoo is home to almost <strong>1,100 animals of 120 different species<\/strong> living in semi-liberty. Among the must-sees: <strong>lions<\/strong>, <strong>tigers <\/strong>and <strong>giraffes<\/strong>. But also rarer species such as the<strong>sacred ibis<\/strong>, <strong>Bennett&#8217;s wallaby<\/strong>, <strong>blue wildebeest<\/strong>, <strong>Tibetan yak<\/strong> and <strong>great red kangaroo<\/strong>. There are also ostriches and emus, the world&#8217;s two largest birds.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prices: how much does a day at the zoo cost?<\/h2>\n\n<p>Admission is \u20ac28.50 for adults and \u20ac22 for children aged 3 to 12. It&#8217;s <strong>free for children under 3<\/strong>. The ticket gives access to the park&#8217;s six universes, including the dolphin educational presentation and the Safari Trail.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Restaurants and picnic areas on site<\/h2>\n\n<p>The animal park has several <strong>restaurants open in season<\/strong>. You can also bring your own picnic. There are a number of equipped areas, some of them covered, within the park.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dogs in the park<\/h2>\n\n<p>For health and safety reasons, pets are not allowed in the park. Dog boarding is available 10 minutes away, at Grands Chenils de l&#8217;Ouest. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sleeping at the zoo among wild animals<\/h2>\n\n<p>Extend your experience with a night in one of the park&#8217;s lodges.
