Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef: a small seaside resort between land, sea and… cookies!<\/h2>\n\n

Labelled a “Station Verte”, the commune stretches between pine forests<\/strong>, quiet villages<\/strong> and dune-lined beaches<\/strong>. It is best known for being the birthplace of the galette Saint-Michel<\/strong>, a local specialty that gave its name to the century-old cookie factory (1905). The town is home to a St Michel cake store<\/strong>, as well as the Caf\u00e9 St Michel. <\/p>\n\n

Four kilometers of beach on the Jade coast<\/h2>\n\n

Nestling at the head of a sheltered bay<\/strong> between Pointe Saint-Gildas and Saint-Brevin-les-Pins, Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef is home to several family beaches<\/strong> with lifeguards on duty in summer. The kilometer-long Plage de Tharon<\/strong> is just as appealing to bathers as it is to anglers<\/strong> at low tide. In summer, beach clubs<\/strong> and surf spots<\/strong> offer surfing<\/strong>, paddleboarding<\/strong> and sand yachting<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

You’ll find fresh fish, home-made galettes, local cheeses and a warm Loire-Atlantique atmosphere. During the summer season, markets are also held at Tharon-Plage<\/strong>, with evening<\/strong> entertainment<\/strong>, concerts<\/strong> and food-trucks<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

The GR8 passes through Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef<\/h2>\n\n

Coastal paths<\/strong>, in particular the GR8<\/strong><\/a> (sentier des douaniers), allow you to walk along the wild coast between Michel-Chef-Chef and Les Moutiers-en-Retz.<\/strong> Between coves, cliffs and panoramic views of the Atlantic, these walks, accessible to all, offer a different view of the coastline, including the “Terres Rouges”<\/strong> site, named after the pink to red color of the mica cliffs.<\/p>\n\n
